Dr. Leis has been active in research through the National Eye Institute, is published in peer-reviewed journals, and has presented cases at national conferences including the Association for Research in Vision and Ophthalmology and the American Academy of Optometry. She obtained her American Optometric Association Fellowship in Ocular Disease in 2018. Dr. Leis is passionate about patient education, evidence based medicine, speciality contact lenses, and working with patients of all ages. When she is not in the clinic, Dr. Leis enjoys travel, hiking, skiing, backpacking, and anything else that takes her into the mountains with her husband and young daughter.
Born and raised in Sisters, Oregon, Dr. Leis received her Bachelor’s degree from Brown University and then her Doctor of Optometry degree from UC Berkeley.
Dr. Leis completed a year-long residency in specialty contact lenses and ocular disease through a joint program with the University of Utah and the VA Hospital in Salt Lake City. She stayed on at the VA Hospital as clinical faculty, and later moved to San Francisco to join UCSF Medical Center. After a sabbatical living in Switzerland, Dr. Leis returned to her roots to live in Central Oregon.
She joined Integrated Eyecare in 2021, which happens to be the clinic where she received her very first eye exam as a child.
